Introduction
Hello everyone
I've been busy working on the redesign of a client's site. It's an ecommerce site and uses Perch for content management but not for its ecommerce functionality. That's because it pre-dates Perch Shop and there's no point changing just for the sake of change. Working on this site is a reminder for me that two systems can actually work together very well if they both do the job and gives the client what he/she wants.
In this issue, there are two methods that I use myself. I use Cloudinary to serve WebP images to one of my Perch sites and I'm also using the PIxelfix Shortcodes app to include Instagram in my blog posts. Read on to find out more...
See you next time.
Add-Ons
Perch template filter for reading length
A Perch template filter for getting a Perch item's reading length in minutes.
Pixelfix Shortcodes
A Perch Admin App to add support for shortcode providers. For example, I've used this to add my Instagram images to blog posts.
UI Loader
The UI loader app enables you to load admin UI assets (CSS, Javascript and favicon). The app comes with zero UI assets. It just loads them for you.
How Do I?
Serving WebP images
How to use Cloudinary or Imgix with Perch to serve WebP images. Your original images don't need to be WebP.
Site Examples
emBold
A mini site completed in 2 days from scratch. The client had a sketch of a design direction which made things easy. Extensive use of CSS Grid.
