Introduction
Hi folks
In this issue, I've highlighted the most popular article from last year's newsletter where WordPress plugins are compared with Perch functionality. It's a good read.
Also in this issue, a great article about category filtering and a short code example describing how you might add Next and Previous post links to a Perch blog post page.
On a personal note, it's been a quiet month for me in a number of ways but I'm increasing my running training now for a (first) marathon in April. So far, I'm ahead of where I thought by this stage, and have reached 14 miles in my long runs. As expected, it's a challenge physically and mentally, as many others will know! Anyway, I'm still feeling positive about it which I hope continues!
See you next time.

WordPress plugins, who needs them?
This was the most clicked link from the Perchology newsletters in 2019.
Perch is a fantastic content management system that allows us all full control over the design process and ensures that you never get lost in a sea of plugins, updates and confusing content regions.
Tips And Tricks
Category Filtering
Perch has centralised categories and offers an easy way to filter items by the categories they belong to. There are some limitations you may run into. Let’s review the basics, then dive into the limitations and possible workarounds.
Add-Ons
Optimising Meta With Chirp 1.6.0
With v1.6, Chirp will allow you to take control of meta once and for all. Quite often as a developer, I had a standard set of page attributes that I used for every project, then had to go and copy across and then incrementally make updates whenever my template changed. I wanted one central app to control meta no matter if the page was powered by Pages, Blog or a Collection.
Another great update in the works for the Chirp SEO add-on.

Site Examples
thinkproject | Construction Intelligence
A fairly large multi-lingual site which I have been working on for a while which is now live with 6/7 different languages - pretty epic Perch build.
Spiders Clothing Online Shop
A couple of years ago I built a new website for Spiders Clothing here in Whitby. Last year I built them an EPOS, and today their online store went live, all built on Perch.
